  • Goodbye to Staff

    We are saying goodbye to three staff this Spring. Keren Hatkevitz has been the IACT Israel Fellow this year; Matt Cohen, our Engagement Coordinator; and Kate Rafey, our Assistant Director. Be sure to stop by or come to our last Shabbat on May 4 to say good bye. We wish them all well and much success in their next endeavors.

  • Out with the Bamboo - In with a Garden!

     

     

    Sustainable Jews group spearheads start of Hillel's own vegetable garden! But first to get the well established bamboo growth out of there! Work continues over the summer!

  • Live at the Hillel House - Fall 2012

     Consider living at the Hillel House in the Jewish Living and Learning Community located on the upper level. There is space for 26 residents. Kitchenette (dairy only), laundry, limited parking on premises and high speed internet access/WiFi. A live-in staff advisor is also present for all support services. And it is one short block from the campus!   Pics

    There are a rooms for the Fall semester - Male or Female, single or double and rooms.

    And there are rooms available for Summer!

    Students from the Hillel got fit and had fun rock climbing at the Central Rock Climbing Gym in Hadley.

  • Ride To Provide 2012 - Save the Date!


    Ride to Provide 2012 is set for Sunday, October 14th!

    Plan to ride your bicycle in one of the three courses, and help to raise money for Hillel sponsored community service trips and programs as well as environmentally-friendly projects. Last year we had over 100 riders and raised over $40,000.

     The Hillel House Lounge filled with students for the first event of the new semester. (Ice cream socials never grow old!) It was a great night of reconnecting and a great way to start off the Spring semester.

    Who is eligible?
    All Jewish students between the age of 18 and 26 who have at least one Jewish parent or grandparent and have never been to Israel on an organized trip before, can go on the FREE 10-day Birthright Israel trip together with other UMass
    Jewish students this summer, 2012!

    What is it?

    Birthright  is a totally free 10 day trip to Israel for young Jews who have never been on an organized trip to Israel before. We tour around this fascinating tiny country and see the heights of the desert fortress of Masada, float in the Dead Sea, be inspired at the Western Wall and remember the tragedy of the holocaust at Yad Vashem in Jerusalem. We'll hike and swim in the beautiful north, go kayaking in the Jordan River, and see the Kinneret (Sea of Galilee). We also get a chance to spend a night under the stars in Bedouin tents in the desert. Discover
    Israel, connect with Judaism in whatever way feels right and make friends who will last you a lifetime!
